During this 3-day workshop, we will explore how mathematical concepts in 4th grade through Algebra 1 build on each other and are connected. The CCSS serves as the trajectory of student learning from early ideas about numbers and numeracy to abstract and generalized properties of arithmetic. In addition to mathematical content, we will explore what the Mathematical Practices look like in the math classroom by delving into student work, examining math tasks, and utilizing various strategies for sense-making and problem solving. In addition to the 3-day summer institute, there will be one half-day follow-up session (TBD) during the 2019-2020 school year.
