UCLA Writing Project Summer Camp

Calling all middle schoolers! Embark on an exhilarating writing adventure with us this summer. Prepare to craft your response to literature, spin captivating poems, and weave compelling narratives.

In our workshop, we’ll use engaging texts as a launching pad for our own writing endeavors.

Throughout our sessions, we’ll unravel the secrets behind crafting powerful prose and poetry, all while having a blast experimenting with different writing styles and techniques. By the workshop’s end, you’ll proudly hold a collection of diverse written pieces that reflect your unique voice and creativity.

Taiesha Fowler is a National Board Certified Teacher who has taught elementary and middle schoolers for the past twenty years. Her expertise also includes fully integrating technology to raise student interest and to leverage achievement. Ms. Fowler is a published writer herself, and it is her passion for writing that gives her insight into how to best teach young writers. She earned her Masters of Professional Writing at the University of Southern California.

 


Marivell Arayasirikul currently teaches 6th-8th graders at Environmental Charter Middle School Inglewood. Her alma maters are UCLA and UC Berkeley. She enjoys hiking in national parks with her family, and especially loves creating imaginative stories with her son.
