5th – 9th grade
What does it mean to be fluent in mathematics? How do we build fluency? During this 6-session institute, we will explore these questions, and how to engage students in developing fluency so that mathematics is meaningful and built on understanding. Our collaboration and play will lead to deeper understanding of mathematical properties, operations and more. Join us as we utilize the underlying principles of Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) to focus on students’ mathematical thinking as a vehicle for learning, and position students competently to build mathematical identity.
