One-day conference for teachers and administrators focusing on access and equity for all students, with diverse multilingual and multicultural students center stage. Our keynote speaker is Joseph Velasco, who is a storyteller and high school English and Ethnic Studies teacher. The conference also includes three sessions of workshops led by teachers.
Session 2 will include an overview of “the reading brain” and the reading circuit and how these develop over time, as well as strategies and resources that parents and caregivers can use to support reading fluency and literacy development at home.
Four-day training to learn how to build strong collaborative and caring work cultures at your site. This foundational professional development is specially designed to support site administrators, teachers, district and agency personnel and staff developers who convene and manage work teams, site councils, shared decision making groups and faculty committees.
These sessions are designed for NBCTs and intended to support the development of Components 1 and 2 for Maintenance of Certification. Each session is a live, synchronous event with a facilitator and curriculum that guides participants through a process of reflection, dialogue, and planning.
Session 3 will discuss the development of the reading brain and will provide a platform for understanding how a new and expanded conceptualization of foundational skills, fluency, and deep reading processes expands practice in the teaching of reading.
Leaders in this program learn to create an inclusive environment where team members feel safe to express ideas, take risks, and reflect on their experiences. By cultivating curiosity and resilience, we explore participants’ strengths and areas for improvement together. Through experiential learning and coaching, leaders will learn how to help their teams to develop skills, think critically, and adapt to changing systems and environments.
