During this workshop we will focus on the development of children’s mathematical thinking in the early education classroom to third grade. We will explore how children’s understandings of counting, problem solving, and spatial reasoning develop. Participants will understand the power of using this knowledge to notice what children can do and to make instructional decisions that building on and extend children’s thinking. Participants will experience a variety of practices that provide opportunities to develop important ideas and a positive mathematical identity.
