During this 3−day workshop, we will focus on the development of children’s mathematical thinking in grades K−5. We will explore how children’s understandings of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division develop and how students construct concepts of place value. Participants will learn how to use this knowledge to make instructional decisions and develop classroom practices that enable students to explain their thinking and engage in each other’s ideas. Participants will work on how to engage students productively in problem solving and will develop expertise around a number of instructional routines.
