In this issue:
Effectively recruiting, preparing, and retaining K-12 teachers and leaders to educate children in public schools from working class communities of color is both a national imperative and a pervasive challenge. With a nationally growing teacher shortage, a widening teacher diversity gap, and perpetual achievement gap for students of color, critical teacher educators have taken up the challenge of preparing the next generation of social justice K-12 teachers committed to working in public schools serving working class communities of color. In this issue of the xChange, we highlight and share resources from 10 years of our teacher residency program called Inspiring Minds of a Professional Alliance of Community Teachers or IMPACT that sought to address this imperative and challenge through rigorous and justice-minded teacher preparation.
