As educators, we want to bring social justice into our classrooms. We make our best efforts to be culturally and linguistically responsive and sustaining in our classroom practices. One option to address social justice outcomes in the classroom is the use of the Social Justice Standards with reading and language.

The Social Justice Standards were born from the goals of anti-bias education as described by Louise Derman-Sparks. The Standards are divided into four domains: Identity, Diversity, Justice and Action. These domains and the standards within represent concrete descriptors of anti-bias, culturally responsive and social justice education.
