Annamarie Francois, Executive Director of UCLA Center X, has been appointed to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. She will serve an ongoing term as the Ex-Officio representative of the University of California.
As a California state agency, the Commission works to ensure the integrity, relevance, and quality of the preparation, certification, and discipline of the educators who serve all of California’s diverse students. The agency serves as the state standards board for educator preparation for the public schools of California, the licensing and credentialing of professional educators in the State, the enforcement of professional practices of educators, and the discipline of credential holders in the State of California.
In serving as a Commissioner, Francois will draw on her experience and commitment to working to make schools and schools of education equitable spaces for deep learning, critical reflection, and liberation. In her work at UCLA’s Center X, Francois and her colleagues collaborate with local school districts to design and implement professional learning opportunities that live at the intersection of research, practice, and social justice. She is deeply involved in teacher education at UCLA where she serves as a faculty member and the program’s academic administrator.
