Teacher Initiated Inquiry Projects provide grants for teacher teams.

TIIP Program Overview

The goal of the Teacher-Initiated Inquiry Project  (TIIP) is to promote teacher innovation and creativity as a vehicle for school reform. TIIP has awarded 75 grants of between $15,000 and $30,000 to teams of teachers in Los Angeles County across three cohorts. These grants were made possible with funding from the California Postsecondary Education Commission and the California Department of Education.

In 2009 UCLA Center X, in partnership with LAUSD, Local District 4, and the UCLA College of Letters of Science, was awarded a Teacher Based Reform (T-BAR) Master Grant by the California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC). The partners subsequently created the Teacher-Initiated Inquiry Project (TIIP), which established a competitive proposal process for teacher teams in Los Angeles county to apply for funding for professional learning plans..

TIIP seeks to promote teacher innovation and creativity by providing financial support to teachers as they identify, plan and implement their own professional development..  Projects funded through TIIP represent a spectrum of disciplines, grade levels and schools.
