POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Partnership is seeking a full-time, dynamic and results-driven Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBLC) to provide strategic support to the Linked Learning Initiative on the campus of Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights. The WBLC will secure key partners in the health and medical field to provide students with robust career-based opportunities in the health and medical field. The WBLC will report to the Principal of Roosevelt High School.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Work-Based Learning Coordinator’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Create high quality internship and job shadowing opportunities for students in the Medical and Health Sciences (MAHS) pathway at Roosevelt High School
  • Leverage select partners to expand their reach within the pathway’s work, including but not limited to, participating in a monthly speaker series about topics relevant to health and medicine
  • Provide students with school-based opportunities to build their knowledge and skills related to health and medicine
  • Assess student interest in various career options within the fields of health and medicine and us this information to develop a career exploration curriculum
  • Facilitate career exploration sessions with pathway students through weekly advisory classes
  • Collect and analyze Health Career Pathways data and report findings to community partners
  • Report on major indicators to school administration, pathway stakeholders and community partners
  • Promote the work of the MAHS pathway by publishing articles that highlight student experiences, partnership development or teacher effectiveness on the Partnership’s website, the Roosevelt High School website, and in various social media outlets
  • Coordinate bi-monthly meetings with the Restorative Justice Coordinator at Roosevelt High School
  • Connect to and coordinate partnerships with organizations providing academic support to students
  • Hold quarterly meetings with community partners to share information, lessons learned and opportunities for policy and/or practice changes to strengthen the health pathway program

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a professional or educational setting
  • Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals, teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders
  • Strong belief in the Partnership’s mission, approach and core values
  • Working knowledge of small school academies and/or Linked Learning pathways
  • Experience in establishing industry and community partnerships
  • Experience in creating work-based learning opportunities for students off campus
  • Any background in work experience and internship programs for students
  • California driver license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The person selected for this position will be an employee of and paid by the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. The Partnership offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance and a 403(b) retirement program.
