Guiding Themes/Essential Questions
- How do we center and ground our program, in the learning experiences of our intersectional teachers of color?
- How does gentrification change the way we understand community teaching in urban areas?
- What does culturally sustaining practice, for both our pre-service teachers and our teacher education faculty, look like in a rapidly gentrifying urban area?
Travel
Local airports:
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- About a 45 minute drive to the hotel during rush hour
- Hollywood Burbank Airport
- About an hour drive to the hotel during rush hour
Transportation to and from LAX:
- Public transportation: the quickest route is the Culver City #6 bus from LAX, then transfer to LA metro #602 local bus (two different bus systems) for which you can use a TAP card when you arrive at LAX.
- LAX-it: This is the new way that people get to taxis, buses, and rideshares
Transportation to and from schools, and to and from the restaurant Tuesday night, will be provided.
Transportation from the hotel within a six-mile radius is free.
