A one-week workshop for fluent Spanish speakers in all disciplines (Grades PreK – Univ.)

You already speak, read, and write Spanish. Quieres sentir mas confianza al hablar con tu gente y tus estudiantes tambien?  Join a group of like-minded educators as we read and discuss the issues of the day.  We’ll also read culturally sustaining literature and write our own articles, stories and poems.  Get ready for an engaging, intellectual experience as well as tears and laughter.  Your Spanish will improve, you’ll become an even stronger teacher for the students you meet every day, y tu vida multi-literaria se verá enriquecida! For fluent Spanish speakers in all disciplines.

This institute will offer you the following:

  • tiempo para escuchar y discutir
  • modelos para la escritura
  • discusión acerca de los armazones estatales
  • tiempo para desarrollar su propia escritura
  • estrategias para la enseñanza del español
  • tiempo para sentirse más capaz como maestro bilingüe

May be eligible for LAUSD PD hours

Norma Mota-Altman was born and raised in Los Angeles to immigrant parents from Zacatecas, Mexico. Her first language was Spanish. She worked in Alhambra city schools for 35 years as a bilingual and ESL teacher, teaching all grades from K-12. She continues to do professional work in schools where she enjoys working with teachers.
