For Secondary Teachers, 7th-11th Grade
The new History-Social Science Framework address the importance of integrating academic conversations into the history classrooms. This three-day hands-on program will explore ways that teachers can engage their students in historical, constitutional, political and controversial issues in the history-social studies classroom. Through talks from scholars, and model lessons featuring strategies such as structured academic controversies, experientials, simulations and character-driven seminars, teachers will learn about how they can incorporate these practices into their classrooms in order to promote critical thinking and civic engagement.
