TIIP Program Overview
The goal of the Teacher-Initiated Inquiry Projects (TIIP) is to promote teacher innovation and creativity as a vehicle for school reform. TIIP has awarded 48 grants of up to $30,000 to teams of teachers in Los Angeles County across two cohorts. These grants were made possible with funding from the California Postsecondary Education Commission.
In 2009 UCLA Center X, in partnership with LAUSD, Local District 4, and the UCLA College of Letters of Science, was awarded a Teacher Based Reform (T-BAR) Master Grant by the California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC). The partners subsequently created the Teacher-Initiated Inquiry Project (TIIP), which established a competitive proposal process for teacher teams in Los Angeles county to apply for funding to be used over a two-year period.
TIIP seeks to promote teacher innovation and creativity by providing financial support to teachers as they identify, plan and implement their own professional development. Possible projects could include:
- University course work
- Research
- Summer workshops
- Conferences
- Internships at museums or libraries
Projects funded through TIIP represent a spectrum of disciplines, grade levels and schools. For more information about TIIP teams, please click on the links below:
