Directors

Faye Peitzman
As director of our professional network for teachers of writing, Faye organizes workshops, conferences and institutes, for both students and teachers. She conducts a variety of programs, such as Teaching Analytical Writing, AP English, Young Writers Workshop, Writing Before College, and Skirball Essay Contest. Also noteworthy is her yearly conference for teachers of English Language Learners, "With Different Eyes."

Jane Hancock
Co-Director of our program, Jane handles the California Professional Development Institutes, writers retreats and partnership programs. As leader of the Professional Development program she oversees and actively participates in school on-site workshops throughout the year. Jane maintains contact with Writing Project fellows through the Writing Project newsletter and this internet site.

Associate Directors

Marlene Carter
An accomplished teacher, Marlene has spent a great deal of time with the California Writing Project, for which she is a Regional Coordinator. Within the UCLA Writing Project, she is a Teacher Research Project coordinator, a CPDI facilitator, does workshop presentations, and is a member of the Writing Project Advisory Board.

Norma Mota-Altman
Norma not only works with the UCLA Writing Project, but also with the National Writing Project. She is a member of the NWP Task Force and Chair of the English Language Learners Network for the NWP. Her expertise on a national level makes her a great Professioanl Development presenter and facilitator, and a valued member of the Writing Project Advisory Board.
