ADDITIONAL CLASSES
The UCLA Writing Project will also be holding classes for young writers at the six sites listed below. One session begins on June 30 and continues for four weeks, Monday through Thursday. A second session begins on July 28 and continues for four weeks, Monday through Thursday. For information about hours and grade levels and fees, please contact the site directly. We are not involved with the registration process so please do not contact us.

Improving Students' Academic Writing Grades 9-12
This summer and academic year program focuses on understanding and assessing academic writing. Participating teachers will help students write clear and compelling analytical essays and learn to use a rubric that gauges growth in student writing.

RETREATS

Malibu Writing Retreat
A retreat for adults who want quiet time to write and who want people to respond to their writing and encourage them in their writing.

November 14-16, 2008

Young Writers Retreat At Lake Arrowhead
Every year in the spring we take a group of young high school writers and teachers to the UCLA Conference Center at Lake Arrowhead. Some schools use categorical funds to pay for this; others request support from local organizations. Some students pay their own way.
